ON SOMETHING CD1

Crocketts.net release info:
Owen Cash helped out with the writing of this accordion-laced 'mate-in-a-state' tune that tends to rile 'em up in the mosh pit when played live. Second track 'Host' has Davey dueting with 1960's music icon Mary Hopkin again (she joins him on 'Chicken vs. Macho' on TGBR album), and the resoundingly gorgeous demo version of 'Opposite Ends' rounds out the release.

ON SOMETHING (WHEATLEY MIX)

Only one of us lucky enough
to be collapsed in a corner looking down from up above.
Just the kid with the juttering jaw
and the billion squillion stunners that he swore that he saw.
Just the one of us crazy enough
to unleash preposterous theories on the origin of frogs
whilst also preparing a picnic with one sandwich missing.
He must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be,
must be, he's gotta be...

On something.
On something.
On something.
He must be, he's gotta be
On something.
On something.
On something.
He must be, he's gotta be...

Only one of us loves the black night,
keeps his curtains shut throughout the stupid daylight.
Just the kid with the long end of the stick
impersonating Popeye for the whole worlds benefit.

Just the one of us crazy enough
to rejoice in having the blunt blade of a lacerating lawnmower
ruthlessly rotate inside his jelly and ice-cream head.
He must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be,
must be, he's gotta be...

On something.
On something.
On something.
He must be, he's gotta be
On something.
On something.
On something.
He must be, he's gotta be...

Only one of us on something.
Only one of us on something.
Only one of us on something.
Only one of us on something.

He must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be,
he must be, he's gotta be
on something.

He must be, he's gotta be,
must be, he's gotta be,
must be, he's gotta be
on something.

HOST (FEATURING MARY HOPKIN)

Good evening I am your host,
you are the lucky one I chose.
I have seen blood many times before...
Good evening I am your host.

See the little girl in the parking lot,
sits down by my side.
She ruins my life and then she
smiles as she sings

When we were young
you were the one.
Now we are old
you're out of control.

Good evening I am your host,
just stick your coppers in the float.
I'll whisper words of caustic cabaret
and then I'll take your heart away.

See the little girl in the parking lot,
sits down by my side.
She ruins my life and then she
smiles as she sings

When we were young
you were the one.
Now we are old
you're out of control.

See the little girl in the parking lot
she sits down by my side.
Ruins my life and then she
smiles as she sings

When we were young
you were the one.
Now we are old
you're out of control.

When we were young
you were the one.
Now we are old
you're out of control.

Looser...

Ahhhhh looser...

See the little girl in the parking lot,
sits down by my side.
She ruins my life and then she
smiles as she sings.

OPPOSITE ENDS (EARLY DEMO)

Done something real bad this time
The two of us heckles raised
Eyes locked dead to the greasy world
Neither of us overjoyed to be out of love
Too proud to kiss and cuddle beneath
The blue flickering sixty watt bulb
This was proper
Fucked up late night B movie teritory
Not some PG Hollywood atrosity
Four crying eyes met in the middle
Like the sweaty palms of arm wrestlers
Fighting to move the other an inch
And onto the candle flame it would hurt
And the larger bicept one would know it hurt and be pleased as punch
Feel all warm inside tingle down the spine
She was burning my eye lashes
Loving every minute of a cool, calm and collected victory

Isobelle
Remember how it used to feel
Isobelle
Remember how it used to be

You and I
Are not the screaming animals
With yellow jealous eyes
Are not the decoration
Of the battle last night
When we wake up in the morning
Both at opposite ends
We wake up in the morning
Both at opposite ends

Our sculls left our brains
Walked the tightrope of a rabbit in the headlight stares
Blood covered meatballs
Inching ever closer almost meeting
In the distance the TV announces war
She looks to see the short haired lunacy
The tightrope broken
The brains on the floor in the dirt
Clambering like half dead bluebottles
They had wanted to talk those brains
To reach each other at a last basting battle of wits
They almost didn't hate each other
Not even a secret harbour in their miniscule dislike
Yes he was a fool
Yes she was a fool
But who can name a penny that has not been in the pocket of a fool

Isobelle
Remember how it used to feel
Isobelle
Remeber how it used to be

You and I
Are not the screaming animals
With yellow jealous eyes
Are not the decoration
Of the battle last night
When we wake up in the morning
We're at opposite ends
When we wake up in the morning
Both at opposite ends
Wake up in the,
Wake up in the,
Wake up in the,
W-Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa-
Wake up in the morning both at opposite ends
