[...] Yes, their website hangs at the card verification stage a third of the time, and their gifs look like something from a 90’s teenager’s attempts at Paint, but the site has enough info on items (including relatively accurate stock counts, whether items are unsealed, pre-owned, weird languages, etc) to make it all worth while. That and their 3 for £20 offers which I’ve mentioned before. [...]

Heh. Yeah, most stores here have them boxed. Any that don't usually don't even have the carts on display, one store keeps them in a tiny box behind the counter and if you don't know they're there and ask to see, you'd never know... Then again, not many places have cartridges for sale anyway, other than DS.

I'm shocked that your typical stores even have boxes for their GBA games. virtually all the Gamestops in the US have cartridges only, and typically they'll throw away the boxes if someone trades it in.

Hey JJ, nice to see you here :) I've just run an update on all prices. I have the time for 775 updates, was around 520 seconds. I would have it for all 1775 but for some reason the time wasn't echoed to my debug file once it finised looping through all the entries. Around 20 minutes though. Which puts it around 3 and a half hours for 17,000, which I think is pretty good :)

The 50 time head start thing is, I'm grabbing a completed item page with (up to) 50 completed items listed on it. So for 50 items I only have to do one wget and parse. You'd be doing that 50 times I think. Data isn't as accurate, but it does me fine. Then again, I did just spent another 10 minutes (un)changing the parse string due to an ebay template change, after doing the same thing a couple days ago. If I had time to look in to the api, I'd probably be doing it about now... ;)

I think these are some great improvements to your process and data gathering. I'm sure it will give you much more data and much better data too. It was great talking with you about your project.

[...] As Chris explains: “Other than the removal of a couple pre-owned stickers to open two cases, this is how they arrived. To be fair, they’re not in terrible condition, but far from what I’m sure most people would expect. And yes, that is a rubber band holding one disc inside a manual.” [...]

On the plus side, it stops idiots complaining the P&P is too high, after bidding the item up an additional £10 themselves :|
